Volunteer for HVA

We have some fantastic ongoing volunteer roles available with Hart Voluntary Action and you can volunteer across the breadth of our services.

Contact us on 01252 815652 or info@hartvolaction.org.uk for further details about any of these roles.

Youth Counselling Meet & Greet

Meet & Greet volunteers provide a friendly face for each client entering the service. They are the first person the clients see, setting the tone for their counselling experiences, so it is an important first interaction with the 1-2-1 counselling services.

We have vacancies for afternoon/evening support to counsellors at The Annexe, Odiham, to receive clients, maintain attendance lists and ensure health and safety measures are maintained.

The role involves:

  • unlocking the venue and ensuring that everything is in place for the counsellors
  • greeting clients as they arrive for their sessions
  • being onsite for the duration of counselling sessions to ensure everything is running smoothly
  • locking up at the end of the evening

You must be able to commit to one evening per week, either every week or every other week. Each shift is around 4 hours long. For more information, please see the role description.

If you are interested in doing this role please email the 1-2-1 Counselling Services team.

“The meet and greet person I have worked with in the service has been extremely valuable. They have been a great support, ensuring I’m not lone-working and have helped me out when needed…They give me peace of mind and assurance” – Volunteer Counsellor

1-2-1 Youth Counsellors

Fully qualified (Level 4) or working towards Level 4 qualification to provide open-ended weekly counselling sessions for 16-25 year olds. Those who have post-qualification experience and training or are in training to work with 11-16 year olds are also very welcome. Clinical supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities provided.

Sunshine & Showers Co-Facilitator

The Sunshine and Showers support groups allowing adults who are struggling with anxiety and depression to come together in mutual support.  We currently have a vacancy for our Tuesday evening group in Odiham, starting in January 2024.

The role involves:

  • setting up the room before the session
  • supporting the facilitator to manage time
  • showing empathy and understanding to group members
  • maintaining the boundaries of the group
  • tidying away at the end

You must be able to commit to one evening per week, every week or every other week. Each session is 90 minutes long and we we ask you to be there 15 minutes before the start time. For more information, please see the role description.

If you are interested in doing this role please email the Sunshine & Showers team.
