IT for the Over 50s

One-to-one weekly sessions with a volunteer IT Tutor at the Hart Volunteer Centre in Fleet

Service update:  During the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Hart Volunteer Centre is closed to the public, and our one-to-one IT sessions will not be running until further notice.

  • Help with using your lap-top or tablet for as long as you need.
  • Personal support from a volunteer at a pace that suits you.
  • One hour per week can help you with understanding how to use e-mail, search the internet, talk to others on Skype, or write your memoirs!
  • Small charge (£5 per session)

Venue: Hart Volunteer Centre, 1st Floor, Hart Shopping Centre, Fleet Road, Fleet, GU5 3LA Tel: 01252 627070

Times: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays mornings between 10.00 and 13.00

How to book sessions: Contact the Hart Volunteer Centre by phone or by dropping in (our opening times are 10.00-15.30 Monday – Thursday).

IT equipment: We have lap-tops available at the Volunteer Centre for you to use, but many of our learners bring their own tablet or laptop as it helps them to familiarise themselves with their own equipment.

Type of IT tasks supported: This really depends on the learner, but the types of support range from understanding how to use your lap-top or tablet, setting up and using an e-mail account, how to carry out internet searches and specific internet tasks such as internet shopping, completing forms online or connecting with others on Skye.

Volunteers: Our volunteers range in age and expertise and knowledge, so we will match you with the most suitable volunteers for your requirements.

Waiting times: As the IT sessions can continue for as long as the learner needs support, there may be a delay before you can start your IT lessons. Please enquire about this.

Session costs: We ask for £5 per hourly session. This covers volunteers’ travel expenses and a contribution to the running of our Volunteer Centre.
