The Hart and Rushmoor Young Carers project has a new venue for its Monday evening club for young carers aged 8-16 years – the recently opened youth suite at the Tythings in Yateley. The first club session on Monday 12th June was a great success, with the young people loving the fact that they had all the outside space on Yateley Green too.
The project supports young carers of all ages who live in Hart and Rushmoor by providing term-time clubs where they can get together and have a bit of time-out from their day to day caring responsbilities. Clubs encourage peer support, time to enjoy cooking, crafts and other physical activities, and a time to to be able to talk to the youth workers and young leaders who help organise the club sessions.
Alongside this, the project offers support to the parents of young carers through regular coffee mornings, and one-to-one meetings to assist with practical issues that they are facing.
In the holidays, young carers also have the opportunity to take part in outings and residentials such as the Young Carers Festival organised by the Children’s Society and YMCA Fairthorne Manor.

Hart Voluntary Action would like to take the opportunity to thank Yateley Town Council for their financial support to help get the new club started and the Yelabus for their assistance with transport.
Look out for further news about a new group for young carers and young adult carers aged 16-25 coming soon!
