Celebrating National Lottery Community Fund Grant Award

Hart Voluntary Action is celebrating National Lottery funding to develop its community wellbeing services over the next three years!

Hart Voluntary Action, is today celebrating with other community organisations which have recently been awarded National Lottery funding to support their work. Hart Voluntary Action is pleased to announce that they have been awarded just over £213,000 to develop their Counselling and Community Garden services starting in April 2024. Hart Voluntary Action will use the money to pay for staff time to develop and expand the reach of both of its services over three years along with financial sustainability for the future.

Hart Voluntary Action has been running free-to-access counselling for young people aged 11-25 years since 2014, with counselling for adults and families being introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic to address the growing demand for mental health support in Hart District (North East Hampshire). Hart Voluntary Action’s community garden (located in Edenbrook Country Park in Fleet) was launched in February 2022 aiming to be the first fully accessible community garden in the local area. Individuals and groups can join as members and enjoy gardening and social activity together on a regular basis.  This year the community garden members have pledged to donate all excess fruit and vegetables grown at the garden to the Fleet and Yateley community pantries.

For the next 12 months, Hart Voluntary Action’s Counselling Services expects to be engaging with 255 children and adults, and supporting 10 student counsellors on counselling training placement. The Community Garden is aiming to engage 55 individuals and 6 groups in membership activity on a regular basis, and will be open for a full programme of one-off workshops and events starting with Stargazing and Easter Wreath workshops later this month.

The National Lottery Community Fund recently launched its new strategy, ‘It starts with community’, which will underpin its efforts to distribute at least £4 billion of National Lottery funding by 2030.  To find out more visit www.TNLCommunityFund.org.uk
