Online tools and digital services for community organisations

27/09/2018

At its September Voluntary Sector Forum, Hart Voluntary Action’s Chief Executive, Caroline Winchurch, provided an overview of a number of digital platforms and services availabile to voluntary and community organisations in the UK.

Online fundraising platforms such as Justgiving and Virgin Money Giving are well established and well known, but what about Givey, Golden Giving or Everyday Hero?

Could you benefit from support to collect charitable donations or promote sponsored events via your own web-pages?  The Charities Aid Foundation and Total Giving are two potential sources of support.

Does your organisation have its own web-site or is your existing web-site too difficult to maintain?  Well the Odiham-based company HugoFox is offering to host community organisation web-sites free of charge.  Our colleagues at Basingstoke Voluntary Action are offering a training session with HugoFox on creating a hosted community web-site (£60 to attend, but web-site is free!).  More information at this link

Have you tried any of the digital donations platforms that collect income for your charity or community group every time a supporter shops at selected retailers online?  Do you know where you could promote your organisation’s activities to attract more members or users?

Click on this link Digital Services for Charities and Community Organisations to download a copy of the full list of services, which was circulated at the Forum, and do let us know if you have had good or bad experience of using any of these platforms or tools, or if you have other recommendations.
