Chairman of Hart District Council Announces

Volunteer Recognition Event
Tuesday 24th April 2012
The Chairman of Hart District Council, Cllr John Kennett is planning an event to recognise and celebrate the contribution made by the large number of people who give up their time for voluntary work across the district. The event will be run in conjunction with the Hart Voluntary Action.
In announcing the event Cllr Kennett said: "Hart is widely acknowledged to be one of the best places in the whole country to live and an important factor is the strength of our communities and the way people help each other.
This would not be possible if people did not volunteer to help in their many different ways. Hart Council thanks all who do volunteer and the Volunteer Awards are one way we can do this. I urge everyone to think of people they know who volunteer in our community and nominate them so they may receive wider recognition"
To be eligible nominees need only be an individual or an organisation that has made a significant contribution to the community through voluntary action. As 2012 is the year of the Olympics, nominations are particularly (but not exclusively) sought from individuals or organisations involved in the promotion of sport.
All nominees will be invited to attend an evening reception on Tuesday, 24th April 2012 where they will be recognised for their valuable work. Cllr Kennett wants the event “to include as many volunteers and voluntary organisations as possible”
Members of the public and voluntary organisations are invited to make nominations. To find out more ring Hart Voluntary Action on 01252 815652 or email info@hartvolaction.org.uk
Closing date for nominations: Wednesday 11th April 2012
