Minding the Garden Flower Pot Club
Hart Voluntary Action is sorry to have to announce that the Minding the Garden project is unable to continue to provide its wide variety of garden-related activities to the residents of Hart for the foreseeable future
This includes:- Garden Maintenance sessions, The Flower Pot Club, Wednesday Weeders, GP Partnership with Hook Allotment Association project, Elvetham Allotment project, Step by Step project work and all Social and Therapeutic gardening in local care settings.
Due to a continuing lack of funding
The Board of Trustees have made the difficult decision that until more funding is found Minding the Garden will close temporarily in May 2016.
For over six years Minding the Garden has played an important part within the Hart communities. Not only has it been able to provide all-year-round volunteering opportunities enabling local people to improve their health and wellbeing through gardening, but also by offering a good quality garden maintenance service.

We have used the great outdoors to support people with mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Anyone volunteering with us attended regular gardening sessions in private gardens and community areas, all under the careful supervision of a Garden Project Officer.
We have worked in over 250 gardens over the last five years. That is over 14,000 person hours of gardening! More than 150 volunteers have helped us and have enjoyed the experience of ecotherapy. A number of volunteers have moved into employment, education or other volunteering.
There is plenty of evidence to show that gardening and being outdoors is an excellent way of improving health and wellbeing. Working as part of a team helping other people is great for improving your self esteem and taking your mind off of personal concerns.
